GGR is an informal collective of science communicators, composed of both writers and illustrators from various scientific backgrounds.

We publish a newsletter every month with a myriad of scientific content. Currently, we are actively recruiting for both writer and illustrator roles. 

Ideal Experience (Illustrators)
– At least a B.S. in a STEM field 
– Some experience using digital illustration softwares (ex: Procreate)

Ideal Experience (Writers)
– At least a B.S. in a STEM field and actively pursuing a graduate degree; M.S. or Ph.D. preferred.

What is GGR?

GGR stands for “grads gone rogue”, a name my good friend Katrina and I coined for a STEM grad student blog. Similar to many grad students, we dreamt of dropping out and opening a bakery/coffee shop, or “going rogue”.
GGR provided an outlet to share the ups and downs of getting a PhD. With a heavy interest in science communication, I decided to build on what we started and give GGR a new found direction. GGR is an informal collective of researchers from a vast array of backgrounds fostering a healthy love for science.

The bridge between the general public and the realities of science is effective communication! To build a strong platform that implements this bridge, we need to recruit contributors, grow our audience, and stay consistent with our personal goals.

What GGR Offers…

At GGR, we go beyond simply reporting the latest scientific breakthroughs. We delve into the reality of what it means to work in various scientific fields, shedding light on the challenges, triumphs, and true nature of being a scientist. Our diverse team of contributors, hailing from a wide range of disciplines, offers an unparalleled
perspective on the ever-evolving world of science.

GGR is a place for those who enjoy science communication, either as a hobby or to build your personal portfolio. Each contributor will receive their personal page containing their entire GGR portfolio, as well as free advertisement of their work on our website and social medias.

Commitment Level

Your commitment is defined by you and what you are willing to contribute. You fill out a form with your desired times, but you can of course change this at any time. We are accepting mid-year applications. When you sign up, it is expected that you are committed to GGR at least until the end of the year. Commitment is renewed annually.
